Why did we do this project?
We have realised that people are wasting too much items, such as plastic bottles. About 25 meric tons of plastics are thrown away each day, all these plastics should be put to good use, so we have decided to do up a sculpture made out of plastic bottles to show how waste can be turned into a form of art. We have decided on a dragon as we are a chinese school, and the dragon is the root of chinese culture. We think of us as children of the dragon and we want our children to be "dragons" when they grow up, so we have decided on the dragon to show out the chinese culture. Another reason would be that the dragon is a mythological creature, and be putting litter in thebelly of the dragon, we show that even such a mythological creature can be affected by mankinds' selfishness. We have also settled on transparent colours and green for the body of the dragon as we have settled on the "water" dragon in the chinese 'feng shui' as the water dragon is the most benign and gentle dragon, the most helpful compared to its brethen in chinese mythology.By showing how even such a mythical, kind and gentle creature can be affected by mankinds' selfish ways, it brings in empathy towards the animals being affected by the plastics wastes, we hope to encourage people to recycle and make use of te waste we create. From trash to art
