Clarion Call
Given that we have shown you how great the harms of throwing away plastics are, how does our project tackle it? Our art piece is made out of bottles which makes a dragon. As said earlier, the dragon is a huge part in the Chinese culture, which is extremely prevalent in Hwa Chong and most of Singapore too. Therefore, we express the importance of recycling and show that the world needs to face this problem through art. Through art, we are also able to capture the attention of people. By putting the “garbage” (plastic waste) into the dragon’s belly, we are essentially comparing it and drawing parallel to the thousands of aquatic animals who ingest plastic waste and die with plastics in their body each year.
We can play our part by:
-
Not littering
-
Recycling our plastic
-
Reducing the usage of plastic bags from supermarkets or stores, bring your own reusable bag instead
