Timeline of Dragon body-making

First, we washed the bottles that we had collected. We had to make sure the bottles were very clean or it would attract ants and other pests to our project as most of the bottles were bottles for sweet drinks. Afterwards, we left the bottles to dry in a huge pail before starting our work.

Next, we started glueing the segments together to make one part of the body. By following the 3D model that we had printed out, we glued the segments together at startegic locations, such as where the bottles met. We also had to glue each segment to another segment at different locations to create the 'curved' effect of the Dragon's body. One such segment is shown above. We then repeated this step 3 times to make 3 body parts.

Finally, after completing the 3 body parts and ensuring that they are stable and will not drop easily, we glued the 3 body parts together. Initially, we had to use tape to hold the body parts firmly together. However, after passing the semi-finals, we decided to remove the tape and join the entire Dragon using only glue to make it look more appealing and nice. We also removed the water that was originally in the bottles that touch the ground as the body could now stand on its own. The final completed body of the Dragon in shown in the gallery of pictures above.

Then, we started glueing 3 bottles together in the formation seen above. Each 3 bottles together made a segment of one body part. By carefully planning our next step, we slowly completed each individual segment that whe put together, would make one whole body part. More information on the precedures and design of each segment is available under the design pages.

This is a group photo we took when we had just finished making the body.
