Model/Prototype

 

Before starting out on the dragon sulpture, we first used a 3D printer in Ian's house to print out the rough design of the sculpture. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Design Techniques

 

  • For the body segment of the dragon, we create a 3 bottle segment that stacks horizontally to form the dragon's body.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • For the scales of the dragon, we stack 3 cut spoons (as shown in the picture below). 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • For the whiskers on the dragon head, we stacked 3 cut forks (as shown in the picture below).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • The tail consists of 3 cut plastic plates. We cut out the rim of the plate so there is a flat surface for the tail. We then outline the tail on the plates before using glue gun to stick the plates together. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • The usage of water in the head is used as a cantilever. This means the water balances out the weight of the head so it can balance properly without falling. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • The plastic wrappers found in the dragon's stomach is used to emphasize our message of plastic recycling.
